Gorske has consumed 13,500,000 million in US Big Mac calories, compared to 12,250,000 if he'd eaten them all in a UK McDonalds, where the Big Mac comes in at 50 calories lighter.

"She says … when she has to put them in a blender, it's over," he said.īefore tucking into his 25,000th burger he added, somewhat needlessly: "I really do enjoy every Big Mac." The Burger King He said his wife jokes about ending his streak. Gorske said he likes other foods, including bratwurst and lobsters, but insists the Big Mac remains his true passion. She said she would be "less concerned about the bad stuff in the Big Mac and more concerned about the good stuff he's missing", such as fruit and vegetables. Tara Gidus, a registered dietitian in Florida, said Gorske probably has good genetics to thank for his health, alongside the fact that he resists the temptation to order fries and soft drinks with his burger. Unsurprisingly medical experts do not recommend the Gorske diet. The burger also contains 29g of fat and 1,040mg of sodium, which are both more than 40% of the Food and Drug Administration's daily recommended value for a 2,000-calorie diet. McDonald's says there are 540 calories in a Big Mac, which is more than a quarter of the calories a person on an average 2,000-calorie diet would consume. He has also kept many of the Big Mac receipts over the years, and has noted his purchases in calendars he has kept. However, he did admit to an obsessive compulsive personality, adding he liked to collect the packaging and enjoyed counting his Big Mac intake because of a love of numbers. In 2004, his appetite for fast food prompted him to appear in the Morgan Spurlock documentary Super Size Me and he says he has only gone eight days without a Big Mac since his first bite, once to grant his mother's dying wish.ĭespite his obsession Gorske says he has been given a clean bill of health by his doctor and takes regular exercise. Gorske's obsession with the burger – two all-beef patties, sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions on a sesame seed bun – started on when he bought three Big Macs to celebrate the purchase of a new car. "I plan on eating Big Macs until I die," said the 57-year-old. "We love the intention but think our two brands could do something bigger to make a difference," Easterbrook said on Facebook.įollow Rachael Rettner Follow Live Science, Facebook & Google+. McDonald's CEO Steve Easterbrook responded to Burger King's proposal by saying he would be "in touch" with the fast-food rival. It remains unclear if the McWhopper will come to fruition. Using a similar method, we can also figure out the amount of fat in the McWhopper: The Big Mac part contains 16.5 grams of fat, and the Whopper part contains 19.5 grams, for a total of 36 grams of fat, or about 54 percent of what's considered the maximum amount a person should eat in a day. Add that together, and we get 390 calories for the Whopper part of the McWhopper.Ĭombine the two parts, and we get 726 calories for the two burgers together, or about one-third of a person's total recommended daily calories. Add all that together, and we get 336 calories for the Big Mac part of the McWhopper.įor the Whopper, we find that each bun contains 110 calories, the patty contains 250 calories, the ketchup has 20 calories, and the tomato, onion and pickles together have 10 calories. The glob of special sauce on a Big Mac contains 90 calories, and if we assume that only about half of that would be used on the McWhopper, that means 45 calories. The cheese slice has 50 calories, and the lettuce has 10 calories. The two patties on a Big Mac contain 170 calories, and so one patty would contain 85 calories. By doing this, we figured out that each bun on the Big Mac contains about 73 calories, and so two buns contain 146 calories. To get a more precise estimate, we used the nutrition calculators on the Burger King and McDonald's websites, which allow one to add or subtract ingredients to each burger.
